About Toy Decision Guide

Our purpose

Toy Decision Guide is an independent informational website about toy decisions: whether a toy fits a child’s age and interests, whether it is worth the price, how it compares with the alternative on the next shelf, and what to check before you buy. We are not a shop and we do not publish a “best toys” ranking. We try to explain the tradeoffs so that parents, caregivers, and gift buyers can make a decision that holds up at home.

What you can decide here

Our articles are organized around seven recurring decisions. Each section is a good starting point if you are new to the site:

If you want a single starting point, read How to Choose a Toy: A 10-Minute Decision Framework.

How we approach our work

We organize guidance around comparison criteria rather than product rankings: age fit, safety, play value, cost over time, and available alternatives. We try to explain tradeoffs in plain language instead of presenting one choice as right for every child, and we say when a cheaper option does the same job as an expensive one.

Our articles are written in US English for a US audience. Where a claim affects a buying or safety decision, we aim to point readers to a primary source — manufacturer instructions, age grading, or consumer-safety guidance — rather than asking you to take our word for it. How we research, correct, and update pages is described in our Editorial Policy.

How the site is funded

Some pages contain affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, the site may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Commissions do not determine our conclusions, and we disclose the relationship on the pages where links appear. The details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Important limitation

Our content is general information, not medical, developmental, legal, or product-safety advice. Product details, age grading, prices, and recall information change. Always check the current manufacturer instructions, the age label on the specific product, and official recall notices before you buy or hand a toy to a child.
